Get your Squarespace site into AI search

On Squarespace, one checkbox decides whether known AI crawlers are asked to stay away. Check it, publish an llms.txt, and fix thin page metadata — then audit the result in under a minute.

Free · live crawl · includes a generated llms.txt

What Squarespace gets right

  • Server-rendered pages that AI crawlers read without JavaScript.
  • Automatic sitemap and structured data for pages, products, events and blog posts.
  • Version 7.1 sites can publish an llms.txt from the SEO settings.

Where Squarespace sites lose AI visibility

The AI crawler block is on

Settings → Crawlers → 'Block known artificial intelligence crawlers' adds disallow rules for GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended and others. If you want to appear in AI answers, leave it unchecked.

robots.txt isn't editable

All Squarespace sites share one robots.txt. You can't add custom allow rules, so the crawler setting above is your main control.

Generic SEO titles and descriptions

Pages left with default titles look identical to answer engines. Set an SEO title and description for every page and collection item.

Key facts only in images

Menus, price lists and schedules uploaded as images can't be read or quoted. Publish them as text.

Step by step

Make Squarespace AI-ready

  1. 1

    Check the AI crawler setting

    Open Settings → Crawlers. Make sure 'Block known artificial intelligence crawlers' is unchecked if you want to be eligible for AI search answers, then run the audit to confirm GPTBot and PerplexityBot are allowed.

  2. 2

    Generate your llms.txt

    Run the audit above. LLMready reads your sitemap and writes an llms.txt with sections for your pages, products and posts.

  3. 3

    Publish it from the SEO settings

    On version 7.1, open the SEO panel's llms.txt tab and paste the generated file. It stays off until you add text. Republish after big content changes — or re-run the audit to get an updated file.

  4. 4

    Add Organization JSON-LD

    Squarespace's own structured data can't be edited, but you can add more in the site-wide header code injection, on plans that include code injection.

    Code injection → Header
    <script type="application/ld+json">
    {
      "@context": "https://schema.org",
      "@type": "Organization",
      "name": "Your business",
      "url": "https://yoursite.com",
      "logo": "https://yoursite.com/logo.png",
      "sameAs": ["https://www.instagram.com/yourbusiness"]
    }
    </script>
